Earthships
I first learned about Earthships in middle school, and knew that I would need to be a part of designing and building one in the future. For now here are some pictures I took while visiting Cosanti Originals, Architect Paolo Soleri’s studio in Paradise Valley, AZ.
Below that I share photos of the first Earthship that invited me to explore the relationship between ecology and architecture. This was the first place that made me wonder how a built space can enhance and become a part of the natural environment.
Further down are other sustainable buildings that inspire me to be more curious about how I built spaces and the environment can work together to make something really beautiful.

Cosanti Visit
I was inspired by this community of artists, and their workspaces. Most of them were open without doors or glass windows, but despite it being a hot day, it felt cool and breezy inside the rooms. I loved the texture and the mixture of round and straight lines. I usually like to see more bold colors, but the color palette wasn’t boring because it suited the surrounding environment.
Phoenix Earthship
I came across the Phoenix Earthship while I was doing a project in middle school. I loved the idea of it so much that I did hours of research on it. I loved how the goal was to make a place that could sustain itself and help the environment, while still being beautiful. It reminds me of doing crafts: It is using creativity and innovation to make something beautiful and useful out of unconventional materials.
